When I became a wedding photographer back in 2012, I never could have imagined ending up here. "Here" as in having couples-turned-lifelong-friends, shooting hundreds of weddings at the most beautiful venues in Metro Detroit, and fueling my passion for travel by adventuring from coast to coast. It's such a dream and privilege to serve couples like you on a daily basis!
Embrace the thrill of planning your destination wedding or elopement, an adventure that promises to whisk you away to some of the most JAW-DROPPING locations across the United States and beyond! Imagine saying ‘I do’ against a backdrop so stunning, it feels like a dream. Whether you’re envisioning your toes in the sand at a beachside ceremony or exchanging vows surrounded by the majestic beauty of a national park, each destination brings its own unique magic and a sprinkle of challenges. Here’s your ultimate guide to navigating the planning process for the wedding of your dreams, no matter where your love story takes you!
These are some of my FAVORITE destinations that I’ve visited! Keep in mind that I love assisting you with choosing the location of your wedding or elopement if you’re having a hard time narrowing it down. Even when it comes to the specific photo spots within these gorgeous destinations – I’m here to help you plan for it all!
Imagine this: Punta Cana is THE dream destination for couples craving a tropical beach wedding. The best months to tie the knot are from December to April steering clear of the rainy season. This paradise has luxurious resorts perfect for both your ceremony and reception, with the breathtaking Caribbean Sea as your backdrop. Pure bliss!
For those who adore the great outdoors and want a desert landscape for their ceremony, Joshua Tree is your go-to. The ideal times for your dream day? Spring and fall, to dodge those extreme summer temps. Envision stunning sunset ceremonies and star-gazing receptions. How magical is that?!
Palm Springs, a desert oasis with a retro-chic flair, is just perfect for ultra-stylish and modern couples. The weather? Most comfortable from November to April, so you can skip the summer heat. Choose from luxurious hotels to private estates, all set against a backdrop of mountain views and swaying palm trees.
Boulder is where urban sophistication meets the great outdoors – ideal for couples wanting it all. Opt for a summer or fall wedding to enjoy mild weather and landscapes adorned with the Flatirons as a breathtaking backdrop.
For the adventurous souls, Moab’s dramatic red rock formations offer a bold setting for your special day. Spring and fall present the best weather for those outdoor “I dos.” Perfect for an intimate elopement or a small, cozy wedding surrounded by nature’s best. Adventure awaits!
Infamous for its lush landscapes and cool weather, making it the dream setting for a summer wedding. Venues range from rustic barns to elegant vineyards, offering a plethora of backdrops for your ceremony and reception. The world is your oyster in the PNW!
Planning from afar? I’ve got you covered! With extensive travel under my belt, I can recommend AMAZING vendors, from hair & makeup artists to officiants and videographers, all reputable and experienced. I promise you’re in good hands!
Choosing an ideal wedding date is CRUCIAL. It’s all about striking the perfect balance between your dream season and the distinctive climate of your chosen destination. Whether it’s steering clear of the scorching heat in Joshua Tree or embracing the mild, lush beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the key is to choose a date that not only aligns with your vision but is also ideal weather-wise! If you’re considering eloping, don’t hesitate to opt for a weekday wedding – it’s a fantastic choice that adds a unique touch to your celebration!
Your guest list is a delicate balance of envisioning an intimate gathering or a lavish celebration, all while considering the logistics of your destination. From travel accessibility for guests to venue capacity, don’t be afraid to craft the experience you’ve always dreamed of. Some couples prefer the intimacy of an elopement, while others can’t imagine getting married without all of their family and friends present. My point here is to plan a day that’s true to YOU and forget the rest!
Crafting a timeline that captures every precious moment from getting ready to the final dance is essential.
