This past June, Corissa and Michael were married outside the beautiful Belle Isle Conservatory, followed by a gorgeous reception at the Detroit Yacht Club. Their wedding is one of my favorites of all-time. Not just because of the stunning location, amazing bridal party, or the beautiful details, but because of the two incredible people that got married that day. I met the happy couple a little over a year ago over a gluten-free meal and a couple of delicious drinks. I knew within 5 minutes of our meeting that we would be great friends. We shared our love for the city of Detroit and photography, and pretty soon two hours had passed. Later, at their engagement session, they introduced me to the awesomeness of Jason Mraz (I was a fan of a few of his songs before, but wow, give me alllllll the albums) and led me on a tour of the Dequindre Cut, which surprisingly, I had never been before (but LOVED). Every time I get an email or message from Corissa, it warms my heart and leaves me smiling. I feel so lucky to have met these two and even luckier they chose me to photograph their amazing day.
I was in awe shooting Corissa’s beautiful details at the Detroit Yacht Club. Simply gorgeous.
Corissa let her bridesmaids pick their own dresses… whatever they wanted within the same color scheme. LOVE!
This has been the year of succulent bouquets. I. Can’t. Get. Enough.
Corissa chose to do a first look with her bridesmaids. These ladies are some of the kindest I’ve ever worked with, and I LOVE their reaction to their beautiful friend!
My favorite part of the entire day. Corissa and Michael’s first look. They had a bit of nerves before the ceremony, so they chose to see each other beforehand. I would LOVE to talk every single one of my clients into doing a first look. They are so beautiful. They are intimate. They are romantic. And they are a wonderful few minutes of quiet time to have with your husband/wife to-be before the craziness of the day takes over. These images melt my heart, and I felt honored to photograph them.
Corissa and Michael’s ceremony was held outside of the Belle Isle Conservatory, with the Detroit skyline as their backdrop.
Corissa’s bridesmaids carried parasols to protect them from the summer sun.
Michael stopped, mid-ceremony, to take a selfie with his new bride and all of their guests. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I hope I made the cut!
Their birdcage centerpieces were both unique and complemented the room beautifully.

I loved this wedding. I love these two. Every time I look at these images, they leave me with a sense of joy. Congratulations to my two wonderful friends!!
A special thanks to Nikki Charbonneau of the Detroit Yacht Club, who was wonderful to work with and made this day even more special than it was already. I can’t wait to photograph another wedding there in a few short weeks!
