When I became a wedding photographer back in 2012, I never could have imagined ending up here. "Here" as in having couples-turned-lifelong-friends, shooting hundreds of weddings at the most beautiful venues in Metro Detroit, and fueling my passion for travel by adventuring from coast to coast. It's such a dream and privilege to serve couples like you on a daily basis!
Some venues just have a way of stopping you in your tracks—and the Henry Ford Museum is one of them. Katelyn and Michael’s wedding day was the perfect mix of heartfelt, historic, and beautifully styled, all within one of the most iconic venues in Michigan. If you’re dreaming of a Henry Ford Museum wedding, let me just say: you’re in for something unforgettable.
From the emotional first look to portraits in the museum’s grand hallways, every part of the day was filled with love, laughter, and joy. And that’s exactly the kind of energy I love to capture.
Katelyn and Michael met working at a small pool store—became best friends first, and then something more. Over the years they built a life together that includes a cozy new home, an adorable cat, and a shared love of reality TV, craft beer, and live music. Their wedding was a true reflection of all of that fun, comfort, and connection.
The day began at the Dearborn Inn, where both Katelyn and Michael got ready surrounded by their favorite people. Katelyn’s suite was full of laughter, anticipation, and all the best wedding morning energy. Her bridal look was timeless, and her bridesmaids in black looked so elegant—such a perfect contrast to the historic venue to come. I also loved her sweet first look with her dad—a quiet, emotional moment that was such a joy to photograph.
Katelyn and Michael’s first look took place inside the Henry Ford Museum, and it was one of my favorite parts of the entire day. You could feel how much they mean to each other in that moment—so much love, so much joy. Afterward, we explored the museum for portraits, and wow… that light, that architecture, those colors! It’s truly one of the most photogenic venues in Michigan. Every backdrop felt iconic. If you’re planning a Henry Ford Museum wedding, give yourself time to explore—you won’t regret it.
Originally planned for outdoors, the ceremony was moved inside due to weather. And honestly? The indoor theater space was stunning. The lighting, the layout, the intimacy—it all came together beautifully. Their vows were heartfelt, and the smiles on their faces said everything.
The reception took place right inside the museum, and the decor complemented the venue’s historic charm perfectly. The speeches were touching and full of laughter, and Katelyn and Michael’s thank-you toast had everyone smiling. Their cake, floral touches, and personalized details added warmth and elegance throughout the night. Once the dancing started, the celebration really kicked off. The joy was contagious—every guest was on their feet, and it stayed that way until the very end.
This day was everything a wedding should be: emotional, joyful, and filled with meaningful moments. Katelyn and Michael are the kind of couple who make you feel like family the moment you meet them, and photographing their Henry Ford Museum wedding was such a privilege.
If you’re planning your own wedding at this iconic venue, I’d love to be there to document it all. Let’s make some photo magic together.
