For Kari and George’s Detroit wedding, I got to visit one of my FAVORITE venues, Planterra Conservatory! These two wanted their day to be on the more intimate side with 100 of their closest friends and family, and I was honored to be a part of such a magical wedding at Planterra. Detroit Wedding Venue Spotlight: Planterra Conservatory

Kari and George chose the breathtaking Planterra Conservatory for their special day – a spot that should be on every couple’s list to check out. This venue, with its gorgeous greenery and stunning glass architecture, provided such a magical and intimate setting. The earthy tones, twinkle lights, and potential for star-gazing during the first dance made it the perfect backdrop for Kari and George’s celebration!

The conservatory is infamous for its beautiful botanicals, koi ponds, and stone paths, making it a serene and outdoorsy choice for couples who don’t want to go the traditional venue route. The venue’s commitment to excellent service and its ability to create an intimate, garden-like experience indoors make it a favorite for couples and photographers alike. As a Detroit wedding photographer who has had the privilege of capturing weddings here, I can’t wait to return and document yet another love story!

Meet Kari and George

High school sweethearts Kari and George have shared an 11-year journey of love. Their proposal in Colorado set the stage for a wedding that aimed to capture the warmth and joy they bring into each other’s lives! They envisioned a smaller, intimate wedding, a dream that Planterra Conservatory fulfilled beautifully. What stood out to me the MOST on their day was how incredibly happy they were to finally start their lives together. They were both giddy from beginning to end! They were such a sweet couple, and oh so eager to work together, which is always appreciated. 

The Detroit Wedding Timeline

Their day began at The Makeup Loft, transitioning to bride and groom preparation, followed by a first look and bridal portraits at Planterra Conservatory. Kari did a first look with both her dad and George, which was so unbelievably sweet to witness! Their ceremony took place in the early evening, leading into cocktail hour, their grand entrance, and a series of toasts. After dinner was served, they and their guests danced the night away, celebrating Kari and George’s newfound union!

Kari and George’s wedding day was a true reflection of their love – serene, joyous, and beautifully intimate. From the gorgeous venue to the smallest detail, it all came together simply perfect. Congratulations Kari and George!
